Metal-plastic seals consist of a core of soft material (graphite, ceramic or PTFE), which is partially or totally coated with a metal foil. This type of more easily compressible gasket resists high temperatures and pressures and can be used in different operating conditions. Due to their efficiency, they are used when there is the need for a gasket that is able to withstand compression varying from 20% to 30% of its initial thickness to compensate for imperfect or defective alignment of flanges.
